ONE (Family Fun Night)

July 19, 2023 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Event Series Event Series (See All)

ONE is a time of fun and fellowship for all ages, held on several Wednesday nights during the summer from 7pm – 9pm.

Join us on July 19 for SOAK NIGHT. Wear your swimsuit under your clothes or bring a change of dry clothes if you plan to get wet. There will be a dry zone for adults who want to observe from a distance, but we hope that many will join us in getting wet. Dinner begins at 6:00 p.m. in the back parking lot (bring your own food), with teaching at 7:00 and games beginning at 7:45. The teaching time will focus on God’s Holiness and Righteousness.

This year’s summer study will continue to focus on the Attributes of God.  We will study The God Who Knows All, The God who Rules All, The Holy and Righteous One, and The God of Wrath.

Teens and adults will be watching and discussing video lessons from the series “Behold Your God: The Weight of Majesty”, and there will be a preschool class and a class for elementary aged kids studying the same topics.  If you ordered a workbook last summer, we will be using the same book.  If you would like your own copy of the workbook, please contact Leanne by May 24 to order.  Books are $18 each.  It is not necessary to purchase a book to join the study, but the workbooks are available for those who want to take the study a little deeper on their own.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Who can attend?  What are the ages?  All ages and stages of life are welcome.  We hope to see families with kids, empty nesters, college kids, grandparents, single people, newlyweds, tired parents chasing toddlers around, middle schoolers and middle-agers.

What is the schedule?  Each night will start with an informal time of fellowship and eating together from 6PM to 7PM.  The teaching time will run from 7:00- 7:45, with kids being taught in one area and teens/adults in another area.  Both groups will meet together at 7:45 for a group activity that all ages can enjoy.

What do I need to know about the dinner?  To keep things simple, we are asking each family to bring their own food.  Think of simple picnic food that can be easily eaten while chatting with friends.  Or order a pizza from Adrians and pick it up on the way into the parking lot.  We will provide drinks and some summery snacks (like popsicles or ice cream sandwiches).

What else should I bring?  Nothing is required, but you might want to bring a comfortable camp chair if you plan to watch the festivities or hang out by the fire pit.

Can I invite friends?  Yes!  There are invitations available for you to give to friends, family or neighbors that you think would enjoy spending the evening having fun with us.

Do I need to register?  This is nice, but not absolutely necessary.  There is an online sign-up to let us know about how many chairs and tables to put out for supper, but feel free to show up even if you forgot to register.

What if it rains?  We will still meet together, even if it rains.  We will move indoors for dinner and ask people to bring some games with them so that we can enjoy an impromptu game night in lieu of the night’s scheduled activity.

Where should I park?  We will try to keep the back parking lot by the kitchen door free from cars so that this space can be used.  Please park in the main part of the parking lot or on the side near the shed.

How can I help?  We will need volunteers to help with the teaching for the kids classes (using a pre-planned curriculum), volunteers to organize the main event of each evening, and volunteers to help set up/tear down the chairs and tables for dinner.  Occasionally we will also need helpers to lead a group during the activity time.
