The RP crew was a little shorthanded tonight, as the youth were on a special trip to see the “Trumpet in the Land”. 9 Covenanters took the field for North Hills, from near and far. John and Luke made their season debuts on this night, and Dave made the start on the mound for the first time in several years.
Things started slow as a good hitting and a 3-run homer in the 3rd propelled First Baptist to a 6-0 lead. North Hills came storming back in the 4th, combining little hits and hustle around the bases to tie the game. After giving up an inside the park homerun in the top of the 5th, the Covenanters stormed back with 4 more in the 5th. North Hills didn’t look back, scoring 6 more in the 7th, aided by long drives by Adam and Luke. The defense went on lockdown in the 8th and 9th, with Tracy making an amazing diving catch in center, and overall holding First Baptist to 2 runs in the last 5 innings. Once more the men in blue were treated to post-game Hammer’s ice cream, and look forward to a huge game against Grace on Saturday.
