With a game time temperature of 88 degrees, with nearly 60% humidity, this was a hot one. Christian Community started off hot with the bats, going up 5-0 after a 1-2-3 first inning from North Hills. Their pitcher was shaky in the second, giving up 3 straight walks, the last with the bases loaded and scoring North Hills’s third run. After giving up 4 more in the next 2 innings, the two team played a fast middle of the game, with several 1-2-3 innings and a 9-4 score after 6. Jeff held tough on the mound, and the defense played strong, and the North Hills bats eventually heated up. They rallied with two strong innings including 3 straight singles in the 7th from the top of the order (Tracy Jr., John S., and Evan), and 4 singles in the 9th including one from Jon S. in his North Hills debut (before marrying into the baseball powerhouse family of Sam, Elliot, Nathan, Byron, Emerson, and Daniel). After going up 10-9 in the 9th, the lead just couldn’t hold up, as Christian Community came alive and batted home the game tying and winning runs. No ice cream relief from the heat in this one, as the loss drops North Hills to an even 4-4 record going into the Laurelville bye week.
