North Hills brought 9 gutsy souls to match up against New Life on this night. Isaac drove in 2 runs in the top of the first, but New Life came right back with 3 in the bottom of that inning. The Covenanters answered big in the second, with a grand slam from Isaac, the first of his 2 homers of the night. More RP runs came in the 3rd, with pitcher Lee losing control a bit, walking in 2 runs surrounded by 6 singles. New Life answered in the bottom of the 4th though, breaking it open with well placed drives amidst a more spacious outfield. Isaac homered again in the 5th to put North Hills up again, 12-11, and Jeff and the defense held New Life scoreless for the next 4 innings. Controversy ensued in the 7th, as Isaac belted a homerun on a pitch way out of the zone, stepping on the plate to do it. As both pitches were way off the plate, the “no intentional walk” rule was called, but even after replaying the at-bat and a walk still drawn, Isaac stepped off first to end the event. 3 straight singles afterward from Matthew, Elliot, and Titus brought 2 more runs home, and North Hills took a 14-11 lead into the ninth. Coach Lee of New Life rallied the troops, however, and the last part of their lineup got hits, and the top part of their lineup brought them home. A long shot to win in this one, with 9 facing the league champions, North Hills enjoyed some post-game Hammer’s anyway, thankful for a great season.
