Our Covenanters came out tonight to face reigning champions New Life, and battled hard to the end. Jeff and the men in blue pulled out of a bases-loaded jam in the first, and held New Life to two runs in the second. In the third, however, New Life broke the game open with a 2-run homer in a 4-run inning, taking a 6-0 lead. North Hills battled back, with 5 straight singles in a 5-run 3rd inning. New Life answered right back in the 4th, with a grand slam, taking a 10-5 lead. This held up to the 7th, when the RP crew, armed with thoughts of Hammers and bolstered by Frank and Hugh of the Mandarin ministry, came through with 6 runs, tying the score at 11. New Life again answered though, with 5 in the 8th (including their third homer of the night), and 6 more in the 9th. North Hills rallied for 3 in the 9th, with a 2-run triple by Evan and a sacrifice fly by Tracy, but the Covenanters couldn’t come all the way back in this one. Character was built on this night, as North Hills looks to rebound from this tough loss next week.
